The Taking

Adrian backed away from the pit as the long gangling white arms emerged, pushing up and out of the darkness. The tall gruesome thing looked directly at him, its terrible wide mouth turning up into a grimace-like smirk. Adrian rushed to the only light source available in the small room. The awful thing made a chuckling sound that echoed off the dark walls, filling Adrian with even more fear.
"You cant run this time, Adrian." its low voice spoke out. Adrian's heart began to beat faster and faster, his breathing speeding up. He wondered what the terrible thing would do to him.
"No," Adrian shook his head, "It wasn't my fault. I lost control. I couldn't help myself." His voice shook, not believing his own words. The great thing just shook its head and tsked. By this time it had fully emerged and was skulking towards him in jerky movements. He quickly shut his eyes, attempting and failing to regain some semblance of courage, and opened them. It was now directly in front of him, their bodies practically touching. Adrian felt all the warmth drain from his body as it's mouth broke out into another dreadful grimace. His stomach churned as he willed his heart to give out, ending it all, protecting him from what was to come.
"Please..." He begged.

"It's too late for that now. Those poor people will never see their children again. What you did," It's chuckles reverberating around the room. "There will be books written about what you did." Adrian closed his eyes, preparing himself.
"YOU WILL LOOK AT ME." The demand shook the whole room as an earthquake had hit. A dead cold flooded Adrian's blood, tears began to spill from his eyes. Darkness flooded the room like multiple shadows intruding, making their way to the weak gas lamp directly over Adrian's head. As the room was completely engulfed in the dark, a blood curdling scream erupted in the quiet little room.
